Volta la pedra has been completed by a multidisciplinary group of professionals with extensive experience on architectural heritage, which is their preferred area of work.

Francisco Campillo Antoni is an architect graduated from the Universitat Politècnica de València, specialized in restoration, study and promotion of architectural heritage. Co-founder of the architecture and design studio Projecte FiligraNNa that focuses on the heritage conservation and collaborates in the dissemination of its value within the region of Els Ports and its surroundings. He participate in restoration, conservation and renovation projects together with professionals of the archaeology and restoration fields. He collaborated in the development of Special Protection Plan, masterplans, studies and catalogues of protected historical sites, as well as the development of architectural restoration manuals. In parallel, he develops architectural projects for renovations, refurbishments, new buildings and interior design. His involvement in the project Volta la Pedra emerges from the desire to continue within the framework of the research on traditional architecture and because it is a constructive technique that is part of his familiar environment.

 

Lidón Molinos Carceller is architect graduated from the Universitat Politècnica de València, specializing in restoration, study and promotion of heritage architectural. Co-founder of the architecture and design studio Projecte FiligraNNa based in the region of Els Ports. She participated and led restoration, conservation, renovation and promotion projects of heritage buildings together with other professionals such as architects, archaeologists, engineers and restorers among others. She also participated in the development of Special Protection Plan, masterplans, studies and catalogues of protected historical sites, as well as the development of architectural restoration manuals. In addition, she works on architectural projects for renovations, refurbishments, new buildings and interior design while combining architecture with the world of graphic design, brand image and furniture design. Her participation in the project Volta la Pedra is motivated by her personal interest in the preservation of traditional vernacular architecture in general and more specifically the contribution to the work of cataloguing, study and preservation of the dry-stone technique.

 

Maria Diodato is an architect, graduated from the Università degli Studi di Trieste (Italy) and subsequently gained her Master degree in Architectural Heritage Conservation and her PhD with a thesis dissertation on the use of timber in Valencian historic architecture  at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV, Spain) where she currently works as assistant professor. For years she has collaborated in projects and research activities on traditional architecture of the “Research, restoration and dissemination of architectural heritage” group at the “Institute for Heritage Restoration” of the UPV. Now she is a member of the “Research Centre for Architecture, Heritage and Management for Sustainable Development” (PEGASO) at UPV.
As an architect she specializes in historical timber assessment, wood species identification and dendrochronology.
Her participation to the Volta la Pedra project comes from the determination to act towards the protection and dissemination of an endangered heritage such as the vernacular dry-stone constructions.

 

Paolo Privitera is an architect, he graduated from the Università degli Studi Roma 3 (Italy) and Master in Architectural Heritage Conservation by the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain). He gained his PhD at the mentioned University with a thesis dissertation on the morphological characters and material culture of the Valencian traditional architecture. He participated in numerous research projects and catalogues about traditional Valencian, Spanish and European architecture. He collaborated in the publication of scientific books and is the author of several articles on pre-modern architecture. His collaboration in the Volta la Pedra project is due not only to scientific interest but also to the enthusiasm for teamwork with colleagues and friends of more than a decade.

 

Francesc Xavier Duarte Martínez, graduated in History, specialised in Prehistory and Archaeology, gained an Advanced Studies Diploma in Archaeology at the Universitat de València. He started his activity in the public sector as municipal archaeologist and director of museums in Morella (region of Els Ports). Afterwards, he turned to the private sector as member of SArq-Serveis d’Arqueologia, providing guidance to local authorities on urban matters, collaborating with the implementation of civil works, performing interventions on archaeological and ethnological heritage and, in general, as well as scientific and social dissemination of the cultural heritage of the region. His current scientific interest, after working in the region for 20 years, focuses on the historical understanding of the foundation of its rural landscape and, therefore, dry-stone architecture. He also participates and researches in projects of Historical Memory in the region. Nowadays, he works as teacher in languages and social sciences in a Secondary School, Col·legi VAMAR (Alfafar, Horta Sud).

 

M. Soledad García Sáez studied architecture at Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (Spain) and her professional career has focused on architectural restoration, its study, intervention and enhancement. She has long collaborated in the Institute for Heritage Restoration (Instituto Universitario de Restauración del Patrimonio) at UPV, participating in numerous projects from preliminary studies to restoration works of buildings of both monumental and popular character. She also participated to research projects on Spanish vernacular architecture as well as the creation of studies and catalogues of protected historical sites.

 

Ramiro Pérez Milián, graduated in in History, specialised in Prehistory and Archaeology, gained an Advanced Studies Diploma in Prehistory and Archaeology at the Universitat de València (UVEG). He did an internship at the Rock Art Institute (2000-2003), period in which he led research projects such as “Landscape archaeology in the plain of Moll (Morella)” and participated to the research projects “Landscape archaeology in the Valltorta-Gasulla Cultural Park” and “The outdoor rock engravings of the Valencian Community”. From 2004, he is founding partner of the NOVERINT cooperative, where he carries out his professional activity, managing more than one hundred archaeological works like surveys, follow-ups, archaeological digs, excavations in open area and rock art studies. The majority of them developed in the region of Els Ports, its history and evolution of the landscape. His professional activity is complemented by the publication of several research works, more than thirty publications in scientific journals, conferences and monographic books. The opportunity to participate in a multidisciplinary project such as Volta la Pedra, which addresses one of the most important aspects of Els Ports heritage, was an enticing opportunity.

 

Jorge Francisco Martínez Piqueras is a building engineer and Master in in Architectural Heritage Conservation by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV, Spain). Currently a doctoral candidate in the Architecture, Construction, Town Planning and Landscape program. Member of the “Institute for Heritage Restoration” of the UPV since 2010, he specializes in the digital survey of architectural heritage, through scanner laser and photogrammetry of near object, analysis and post-processing techniques of reverse engineering and virtualization of models for their representation in 2D, 3D and interactive virtual reality tours.  He participated in research projects and worked on the surveys of emblematic buildings such as the Central Market of Valencia or the convent of San Vicente de la Roqueta.

 

Lidia García-Soriano is an architect, graduated from the School of Architecture of the Universitat Politècnica de València (2010), Master in Conservation of Architectural Heritage (2013) and PhD in Architecture from the UPV (2015). Currently associate professor in the Department of Architectural Composition of the UPV who teaches the subjects of Architectural Restoration, Theory of Architecture and Composition. Member as a Senior Research Technician at the PEGASO Research Center at the UPV. His professional and research activity is developed around architectural heritage in general and around earthen architecture and traditional construction techniques, as well as the study of restoration criteria and techniques in particular, with various publications on these issues in specialized journals, monographic books, exhibitions… He has participated in various research projects (some of them funded by the European Union, others at the national level and several funded by the GV).

 

Eduardo Baviera Llópez. Architect and Master in Conservation of Architectural Heritage from the School of Architecture of the Universitat Politècnica de València. Master  in Museography, Architecture and Archaeology by Accademia Adrianea di Architettura e Archeologia Onlus. He has specialized in survey and digitization of architectural heritage for documentation, dissemination and virtual reconstruction. He is currently developing his PHD on the virtual reconstruction of the Cathedral of Valencia.
